New Key

The normal key is somewhat boring. My 99 Passat has a key that you can fold away. Anyone replaced their X5 key with a fold away key?

Interested in this as well and have done a little bit of searching but haven't found anything yet. I know there are issues with the rolling code chip but would like to find out if anyone has found a work around. Having a switch blade option for the key would be great.

Every time I did this, on any of my other cars, it has bitten me in the ass every time. Those non OEM switch blades can be made to accept the buttons from factory. Didn't try this on the X but worked on older bimmers and lexus. Problems were. The stupid blade springs would break. The case would fall apart. The key broke on me once in the ignition. The cheap shit metal just couldn't take it like the factory key. Unless someone makes a quality part, don't bother with this.

don't forget, our keys also get charged while in the ignition.
