StealthOne Install problem
Have my V1 hardwired using the V1 direct wire power adapter kit Have the StealthOne installed per the install instructions. Verified I am using the correct Ibus wire behind the stereo. (even tried the Ibus off the CD Changer)(white, grey with yellow dots) When I plug the V1 into the direct wire main unit port it comes on and stays on (what I want it to do) When I plug in the S1 to the ACC port on the direct wire adapter the V1 powers off and I can't turn it back on with the StealthOne connected. Thought it was the direct wire adapter so I ordered a new one from Valentine. That one has the same issue, bought a generic off of ebay same problem. This leads me to believe it is the StealthOne, because everything else functions. Has anyone else experienced this issue with a S1/V1 install? Car: 2006 X5 4.4i with DSP and Navigation.

You know the V1 display is supposed to blank out when you are using StealthOne. This can not be overridden as it was designed that way.

since my intention was to mount it in the rear middle headrest, I wanted to use an ibus wire located in the rear of the car. So my question again would be am I using the correct wire. I followed the directions found on this forum, made by a member who mounted his V1 in the center headrest. I may go ahead and follow the StealthOne mounting directions, but would be pretty pissed if I did that and it still did not work. Bought the unit for 200 off a member of this forum so I just assumed it was working and had been mounted in their X5 before they sold it.

OK, I will go now ask if you did the maneuver of pressing down-up-up-down on the forward/reverse buttons on the steering wheel to put the StealthOne (S1) in Setup Mode (see page 7)after powering up the V1 and S1 and waiting about 10 seconds. If your S1 came from an identical vehicle (2006 e53) you may not need to do this, but if it was setup for another (say an e38) you do. This is where you first tell the S1 what car you have.
If I missed the post that you tried that already please forgive and ignore this reply. PS If you found the correct iBus wire (on my car it is white, yellow and grey), it does not matter where you find one, so the mount you are trying to achieve should be routed to the nearest (most convenient for you) iBus wire. But I am learning to live with the V1 attached to the visor ![]() I might give it another try after the holidays. Just wish there was a way to tell if the unit is dead or just installed improperly. My 3rd attempt I had a friend that does stereo installations on High End cars take a go at it. He followed the same instructions and it did not work for him either. I will take pics once I go thru the process again. p.s. I did manage to get a burned copy of my Nav CD working with all the little upgrades so I am confidant in my ability to follow detailed instructions

I liked the idea of a center rear headrest install but worried if the field of view out the front would be unrestricted enough to catch ALL the bad rays
Does the X5 have room for a V1 in the header where the sunroof switch is? I know a guy who separated his V1 into the two circuit boards to cram it up there in his 740. But I think he was willing to give up rear coverage. Here is the writeup of the S1 install in my car. Was it really seven years ago? Yikes. |
