swap ZF5hp24 with GA6HP26Z?

Hey guys, Since my 2000 4.4 needs a new trans or a rebuild I'm considering all options. I've considered a manual swap but have decided I really want to keep AWD...

My current question is whether I can swap to a GA6HP26Z from an 04-06 e53? If I'm going to spend the money on a transmission, I'd rather have the 6 speed.

Any educated input would be greatly appreciated. I've tried to search for this swap but haven't found anything yet.

Good question. I have no idea, but have you been to a local indie tranny shop? They would know about compatibility.. Software would be my question. Let us know what you find!

I have that trans for sale if you decide to swap one. It's currently in my 2005 4.8is.

No indy shops here with this type of experience. I may be able to run the newer trans control unit with my engine but I need to look at the wiring diagrams. I have a Bentley manual on the way, so I'll keep you posted.

Sent an email, what are you wanting for the trans, transfer case, and trans control module? Also, what about the engine? Thanks
