Nope, regular. Counter-clock wise to remove.

No doubt it's a b1tch! You need a 4ft breaker bar and a buddy to have enough torque to get it off or an 800ft/lb+ impact wrench. Make sure you are not holding the crank with the tdc locking pin while you are trying to get it off - it will bend or break.

Hmm, my half inch impact gun is only rated at like 600 ft/lbs, took off 2 in a row without much problem.

There are 2 dowel pins on the bottom of the timing cover that make it difficult to remove. Be careful removing it, you don't want to mess up the upper oil pan gasket which is right below it.

It's a PITA (removing the stiffener plate, etc) but I would highly suggest dropping the lower oil pan and looking for the plastic pieces as well as making sure the pump screen is clear.

One other thing I should mention and you may already have it in your parts list is to make sure you get a new (new design) timing chain tensioner.

It might be mileage related - my X has 161,000 and I had to use heat and rock the bolt with the gun a few times to get it to let go. I now have the bolt hanging on the wall as a trophy.
