Filling in the gaps. Well, I got the exp. tank replaced, as well as the hose from tank to water pump and trans. thermostat. Upon completion, I started it up and clouds of white smoke poured out the back. I thought hopefully that it was spilled coolant. Turned it off and after a few min. thought I'd try it again. This time it won't turn over. Charge the battery and still no go. Fearing a head gasket/cracked head problem with a locked motor or a coolant filled hydro locked cylinder, I called the local ind. mechanic and made an appointment. Luckily, it was not coolant that was the problem, but oil that had hydrolocked a cylinder. He cleaned out the oil and drove it to burn the oil out the exhaust. I should mention that I was doing the tank work in 20 deg. weather in my carport. So, apparently from a lot of short trips in cold weather the condensation froze in the CCV system causing the oil problem. And yes it has the cold weather CCV setup. So far, so good. I am warming the car up more and trying to avoid short trips, (although I think it's ridiculous to think that I'm limited to longer drives in a modern car because of a poorly designed crankcase ventilation system).
