Have anyone tried the rotor and pads on Ebay?

It's time to replace the front rotors and pads on my 01 x5 and just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the sloted rotors sold on Ebay. If not, where can I buy some reasonable (cheap) rotors and pads.

Brakes are one of the most important safety item on the car, why would you want to risk anything on cheap ebay parts? If you don't want OEM rotors and pads, you can go with a few brand name rotors, such as Centric, Zimmermann, Brembo, etc... For pads, if you want low dust, you can go with Axxis Deluxe (PBR Deluxe), etc...

Do a search on here and you should be able to find plenty of info.

I've bought Brembo disc's and EBC Greenstuff Pads for my Passat which I bought off Ebay. They are awesome. Twice as good as the OEM. The pads aren't "grabby" during smooth braking but when you need it to it stops on a dime.

When I replace the X5 discs/pads I will be going with Brembo Disc's and EBC Yellowstuff SUV pads.

PS: Unless you'll be taking your truck to the track regularly I'd just get non-slotted non drilled discs. Especially seeing the X5 has brake cooling ducts. Having slotted or Drilled actually reduces the active braking surface area of your disc so should only be done if cooling is more important, or you want them for aesthetic reasons

I got them off Ebay for my Tundra last summer from brakemotive76 with ceramic pads. They work quit well, better then the OEs. I think I put about 3-4000 miles on them by now and the disks look good, no issues at all with brake feel or balance.

Now I am installing a set of these on my 4.4i but not yet driven it. Waiting to get a CV boot tomorrow and once that is on I will report back. This set of pads came with a wear sensor as well. For $148 shipped it is worth trying them.

Don't get slotted or drilled rotors. It is a damn gimmick which someone should get shot over. Not only will you loose contact surface, but you will also cheese grate your pads, and risk some sort of fracture to the weakened (drilled) rotor.

Drilled rotors aren't a gimmick if they're engineered properly. They are standard in many Porsches and other high end cars. The Germans wouldn't use them if they didn't work. But they weren't designed for the X5 or vice-versa.

If you go to the Ebay store "All German Parts" they sell OEM pads and rotors for excellent prices. 99% feedback, I have nothing but good stuff to say about the seller having done business with him multiple times.

Also with regard to X5 brakes, a lot of the non-OEM stuff makes noise, sometimes a lot of noise!! That would personally drive me nuts....
