Replacing the clip on my 2005 x5 front driver’s window did the trick!!! My window was rattling and when I closed the window it would make an awful cracking noise. I was afraid that this would eventually break the glass so I needed to take action. Taking the door panel off was not that hard and be sure to look for videos on the web as to how to do it. My problems were in getting the electrical plugs undone...and getting the door handle to disengage from the panel so I could work. Eventually I got both done and then replaced the clip and now everything works great... and it only cost me $1.85 for the clip. Thanks for the tip.

If you pull back the liner. The black stuff that has the devil glue. Lower the window till you see the two mounting bolts. One toward front, one toward rear. The black clip things are behind the regulator against the glass. The bolts go through regulator. This is what keeps you window in place on the regulator.

You probably couldn't find it because you didn't pull off enough of the black foam stuff.

So, just to be clear. If I want to do this fix on both front doors, I am buying 4 of these clips?? Is it 2 per side or 1 per side?
