30mm Wheel spacer to much?

Is the 30mm wheel spacer to much for the rear wheels? I have stock wheels and was wanting to know if the 30mm was too much. I want the rear wheels to sit flush with the body.. I found them on ecstuning.com for around $140...

So question is 20mm or 30mm? Post pics if you have them..

what kind of wheels do you have? width and offset must be told.
BMW X5 (E53) wheels is a great website to check design, offset and part numbers for a bunch of makes of Bimmers.

I have a set of both 30mm and 45mm. It just depends what the ET/IS number is of your wheels and how much further you want them sit outward. For 48mm offset wheels a 30mm spacer is fine, 45mm pushes it on a std car but works nicely if you have the rear extended wheel arches.

When I want to figure how a spacer / new wheel will sit in the fender, I use a plumb bob or a level that I put on the fender, then measure the distance between the beginning of the tread and the rope (or level). That is the maximum extra spacing that can be added without having the tread outside the fender. Usually, I substract some millimeters just to be safe.

Sometimes other factors have to be taken into account for clearance, like inner fender lip, but on the X5, there is such a big wheel gap that the lip doesn't create a problem.

I am running 20 upfront and 30 in the rear with no problems and actually could have gone 40 in the rear. The 30 still seats inside the wheel well. I have had them on for 50,000+ miles, and no issues.

Have you measured yet? HERE is a pdf which shows how to measure for spacers. HERE is a link to our spacers, make sure to get the proper lug bolts when ordering spacers, if you need help figuring that out feel free to blast me a PM.

Several guys are rocking 30mm in the rear and 20mm in the front on the X with stock wheels. Flushed wheels on an X just looks amazing to me, can't wait to see yours when you decided on the set up you're going with!

42.7mm offset from the OPs Wheel Location

I went from the 74 wheel (18x8.5 48et) to a 19x9.5 38et, this wheel is 1" wider and shifted 10mm outward, then added 20mm H&R spacers. that makes the total shift of the wheel/tire assembly........ .5" (12.7mm) (half the wheel width increase) + 10mm (et reduction from 48 to 38) + 20mm (H&R spacer) for a grand total of 42.7mm shift from the location of the 8.5x48et wheel. Went with a 19x8.5 38et front wheel for the stagger look and a 10mm shift of the front wheel without a spacer, the offset is built into the wheel. OP can rock the 30mm spacers with no issues. A plum line dropped from the edge of the body wheel arch contacts the top sidewall of the rear tires, camber put the outer edges of the contact patchs wider then the body of the truck. It looks great from behind!

EDIT; Before I get the Chrome bashers here, the wheels are uncoated polished alum lips and titanium centers (to match the grill inserts)...... chrome fasteners ONLY!

06 4.8is with the H&R 30mm spacers from ECS. Stock 20's. No rubbing issues and they do not stick out too far, perfectly flush. Gave the car a slight more aggressive look which was exactly what I was looking for.
