HELP! Service Engine Soon Light!
After leaving the mall doing my xmas shopping Friday night .... My The Check Engine Light or Service Engine light( Icon that looks like a lil transmission thing) comes on. I am planning on doing a 12 Hour drive through the mountains from Vancouver to Edmonton on Saturday morning. Now what luck that this light comes on. I was trying to leave at 6am in the morning. Now my question is.. Is this pretty serious? Can I drive to Edmonton and then drive back and get it checked out? From reading the manual it seems to just be a emmision thing. I just don't wanna get stuck on the road or wreck my truck.
The drive is about 1200Ks. So about 2400k back and forth. And advice would help! Thanks |

Apparently the most common cause of this is a loose gas cap. Did you refuel lately where you might not have closed the cap tightly? I had one come on once, after I had been fooling around with some fuses (while doing a mod), and the dealer checked it out, then simply reset the light.

Loose oil cap will cause the CES light as well. Did you top up/check your oil before the trip and not replace tightly? Or at all?
