Forum, can the 4.4 transmission swap for the 4.6? Read on to see specifics
I cracked the outside of the transmission with no damage to the internal workings so in essence I simply need a host body. Will the 4.4 tranny do for this? Or is the body of the 4.6 a special transmission body build? Thanks!

The 4.4i uses the 029 model and the 4.6is the 034 model of the ZF 5HP24 transmission. The maincase for both models however is identical.
The differences are that the 034 model uses the bigger L51 torque converter so the bellhousing is different. Apart from that the 034 has an extra clutch plate in the D-brake and also the upper valve block is slightly different as the B-clutch spool valve is changed but thats it. Phil |

Thanks! But I cracked the part right below the bellhousing (the metal is now gone) so will I still be able to change the internal parts to fit the 4.4?

Did you crack the bellhousing or the main case? Coz I think he just told you the bellhousing is different but not the main case.

Can you maybe post up a photo showing the area that's cracked?
