What's wrong with my power lock?!?

Does anybody know what's happening with my power lock? I hit the button to unlock on my remote key and everything opens except driver's side. I have to individually open the driver's side. Now, if I want to lock the my x5 I hit the appropriate key and everything locks except the driver's side again.

What's going on?

Hi,

what if you do not use the remote but try to open the whole car with the key? Do all doors open? If not you might have a challenge with the doors connection to the rest of the car.

Good luck.

I think your door lock actuator is shot. When you get in the car, and lock it from the interior, does the lock pull up and down? If not, it's definitely your door lock actuator

This. It is the lock in the driver door.

When I use the interior lock/ unlock button everything locks or unlocks except driver's side. I have to push it manually down to lock it or use the door handle to unlock.

Thanks

Yes and I think every door has it's own actuator/motor that locks and unlocks the door. If all the other doors are working, this could be the issue. I have replaced door lock actuators in the past and what he is describing seems pretty bang on. All doors respond except for driver door.

How much did it cost to get it fixed?

There ya go. Try putting your finger on that piece that goes up and down, and push the button at the same time. Does it have any vibration from the motor trying to pull the stick up and down or nothing at all.

But by the sounds of it, I think the driver door lock actuator/motor needs replacing. Let us know how it goes! Good luck!

I replaced one on an Acura tsx. Discounted price was like $50.

I presume the BMW is going to be more...as everything else is for these cars..
