Got the check coolant light today

So I last checked the expansion tank coolant level less than a month ago and today I got the check coolant light with no apparent leak so two questions

1. Is it possible that I just missed something last time?

2. Is a coolant leak obvious like I'm expecting it would be (fluid at 10psi)

I bet it is leaking from the valley pan. it is a very common problem and you sometimes do not see coolant drips due to the coolant drips on the engine block and boils off. It is a big$$$$ repair.

Well, did you check the coolant level again?

Could be a bad sensor, you could have a leak or there could have been air in the system.

If it took a month the coolant leak may be small, and if it is leaking onto something hot, say the engine, it may be evaporating before it hits the ground.

But check the coolant level. And add as needed.

Haha, yes of course I checked the coolant level - bone dry

Reg, Good call on the valley Pan gasket - I'm thinking if it's visibly leaking I'll see it on the bell housing??

I'll be refilling the expansion tank today and seeing how long it takes to empty

Mate i've had the same issue which drived me Nuts.

Workshop did pressure tests and everything and the mofos couldn't find it but happy to charged me everytime. At the end, i undo the plastic cover under the engine bay and found coolant was leaking where the Transmission Cooler is.

Valley Pan is that last place you'd want to see the coolant leak as i did some research and found its hard to do ..... offcourse that's just me.

Yeah I'm thinking of just replacing it anyway and while i'm there doing the cam cover gaskets and the water pump and thermostat.

Any other ideas of what I should replace while I'm there. I'll part up and go hardcore
