Anyone supercharge their v8?

I'm seriously considering bolting this onto my 04 N62B44.

ESS N62B44 545i/645Ci TVS2 Supercharger System - ESS Tuning | BMW Tuning Parts | BMW Racing, Tuning, Aftermarket, Performance Parts | Engine Power Chips | Performance Upgrades Chip

I'm assuming there will be numerous issues to contend with including but not limited to;

* Gearbox strength
* X-Drive Clutch capabilities
* Engine Mounts
* Chasis Strengthening
* Drive shafts in general
* Air intake and filter modifications
* Bonnet clearance
* Front mount heat exchanger clearance and disadvantages

My main consideration is the gearbox - I don't really want to put the additional 80ft pounds of torque on the gearbox to have it shit itself all over the road

So anyone out there put a supercharger on their v8 that can give me any tips or anyone see any issue with doing this?

Thanks in advance
Andrew

how many miles are on your truck? have you done a compression check to assure the motor can handle the boost? usually one of the biggest hurdles and cost is the tune. FI is worthless unless the truck is tuned to accept the change.

What about your exhaust? Have you done it yet?

That seems like a serious kit. It will be a lot more cost than this in the end. Especially on a BMW.

Haven't done the exhaust yet or done a compression check but was planning on doing the whole thing at one time. Never been interested in doing things piecemeal, I like to do a performance upgrade as a one off with every part matched to each other.

Air boxes / Exhausts / extractors give a performance boost but nothing like what a supercharger does so my main aim is to find out the issues with a major power boost like one would get from a supercharger

To realize more power, in addition to breathing in more air, need to exhaust out more!

Do a twin turbo kit,

Supercharger is boring, everytime you need more boost, you got to change the pulley.
With Turbo, all you need is adjust the boost controller. Even better, nothing sound sweeter than an External Gate screeming.

Still, all these things cost ...to support more power you'll need to consider these things ....

Intercooler ... either Water to air or Air to Air
CAI
Exhaust system
ECU upgrade to support Bigger Injectors, Fuel Pump, Fuel Reg, Fuel Surge Tank, New Fuel Rail, Ignition system ......
Gear box syncro
Drive shafts
Dyno Tune

...... and because E53 runs 63% (?) power to the rear ... = TYRES
