DINAN for X5 4.8?

Gang,
Anybody seen anything more than the dinan site has for the 4.8? I like performance mods, but I like my warranty better. Right now they only seem to have stuff for the 4.6. Anybody seen anything different?

Thanks,
Scott

The 4.4 Strut Bar does fit the 4.8 and they were expecting to have more stuff for the 4.8 by yearend.

I have given up hope on the Dinan stuffs for my valvetronic 4.4i. I just don't think it's feasible for Dinan to come out with anything for the facelifted models so don't hold your breath.

I called Dinan today

and they said they would have a full performance package out for the 4.8is in the early spring. Computer, cold air intake, exhaust, etc, similar to the S1 package for the 4.6is.

They are NOT currently developing any suspension parts for our rigs though.

FYI to those who care

Well I also talked to them last year about this time and was told the same...that the new stuff for valvetronic engines will be out sometimes in spring ('05) and it's already a year later. I give up waiting for them.

In addition to the strut brace, they have a throttle body and exhaust for the '04+ 4.4s. Also, if you don't have the air suspension, you can get camber plates... the BEST X5 handling mod, IMO. (I recently test drove a 4.8 while waiting for service... even with the big, wide, 20" sticky tires, I was surprised by how heavy the understeer was when cornering hard. I've had my camber plates since July, so I had happily forgotten all about that!)

The throttle body is the only thing they have for the '04+ models. I'm looking for one of their signature series, the S2 package and they still don't have it.

wow.. i'm still surprised the magic of dinan marketing is still working this strong to this day....

dinan mods don't mean that your factory warranty covers it. dinan covers the warranty for their parts and labor that went into your car. same as any other company that sells aftermarket parts. the dealer and bmw na or ag will not cover aftermarket parts - period.

for those of you with really short term memory, search the bmw boards for the z8 fiasco... dinan and bmwna fought back and forth on that...

so end story: bmw na/ag will only honor without question oem parts. any aftermarket parts will be honored by the manufacturer and installation shop. in some cases, the dealer is the installation shop. dinan is installed by most dealers and therefore the installation is covered, but should the part prove to cause damage to the original components, dinan is to cover for it solely... ie: dinan supercharger - dealer will not cover damage caused by the supercharger, if any...

after the install of the blower, i had several components fail, mainly the A/C wouldnt work (defective belt that was shredded, fans not working, improper hoses not fitting and coming apart) and everytime i brought it back, the dealer called up Dinan and had the work and components covered by the warranty. I think all occurences would have totaled to about 5k in repairs. There was one issue where the dealer said I might have to pay for the evac and refill of A/C because BMW NA wouldnt cover it, but he did talk to his boss and boss said to absorb the cost and cover it for me....Installing Dinan parts still I think is the safest bet....you pay for the xtras up front, so you dont feel so bad when shit happens to your car and you have to fork out more money to fix it. and in my experience, shit WILL GO WRONG when you start modding. the car is running perfect since the last visit (knock on wood). what i did hear is that maybe BMW is going to come out with their own performance products...let's see what 06 brings...
