Yea I heard that same sound. Like a tick, tick. Then nothing. I was the relay, that is missing all the way to the right in your picture.

Right when you took out relay 4, blue closest to center, that is for the bottom tailgate. That relay will work in position 6. Try it. But note, that you need the relay to be present in the 4th box, and 6th at the same time. The DME has a loop in it to make sure and enable the top hatch, only when the bottom is closed, or the opposite, I don't remember how my electrician explained it.

Oh by the way, according to my electrician, the motor in the trunk latch is really robust. He knows the company and says that they are very reliable. I doubt it is your latch. And anyway, opening that entire mechanism is going to be a nightmare. It is riveted together.

I just took my BMW into the Dealer for service and they stated it was the trunk actuator. http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/t...20actuator.htm

That's not the part though. Our part is ridiculous and fully rivet sealed. The thing costs nearly $300. I know I bought one, but lucked out because mine wasn't broken. Returned it, so all good. I actually had the rear relay get stuck.

The right part is 51 24 8 408 492

Below is the reason they said it was faulty.

They also said this is the part for the trunk seals, to prevent the leak from happening again: 51 13 7 170 674

But I think they made a mistake on the part number they gave me to prevent the leak.... The part number they gave me is for the titanium color lid... I need the black one...

Titanium: 51137170674

Black: 51137170676

Yea so that is not even the actuator. That is the switch. Basically the button for the lock.

The actuator is a completely different part.
Home Page > Search > 51247111008 - ECS Tuning Inc

That right there even states that they didn't even remove anything to inspect.
