If only it were that easy...
I've read everything I can find on this site and several others related to the transmission problems associated with the 4.6/4.8is and have yet to find the answer to my problem.

You'll need to post your specific symptoms and any other info for us to try and help.
More than likely you are experiencing a harsh downshift when coming to a stop, have a low speed shudder, clunks or hesitates to go into reverse, or are have a slip between gears (like the rest of us). These are all common issues and well noted here on the forum.

Find a good transmission shop that is familiar with the ZF transmission, and get it diagnosed. Not the dealer.

Agreed. Dealer will just want to sell you a very expensive remanufactured unit! You need to have the transmission fault codes read to see what shows up. There are so many possibilities that it could be, it's really the best way to go.

Be prepared for a bill though. At that age, realistically you may be looking at a rebuild being needed.

dude, you need to get that truck into someone that can diagnose what's wrong. do not continue to drive it the way you have until you have figured out what's wrong.
