Any solutions for heavy steering on E53?

On my 2004 X5 3.0 it is almost impossible to drive with one hand. I took it to the dealer and they gave me the run around that it is normal.

Has anyone found a solution for the steering problem?

Steering is tight in these cars. Maybe do the power steering fluid change. Search for that. Also luging up that joint in the engine bay might help.
