17" wheels fit fine on the 4.4, but not on the 4.6

well done, i never considered my x5 for the beach, i have a modified Jeep XJ Cherokee for that

however from my experience its not the beach driving thats an issue its the getting on and off the beach where the troubles usually start, in all the deep loose chewed up sand from all the previous users, some beaches have a grid work of timber at this point to make it easier,

I have a set of 17''rims, no tyres, you can have cheap I live in Newcastle. The X5 was always going to be a vehicle that would perform well on sand, I remember with the launch of the VW syncro ( Kombi ) many years ago they were driving it over the sand dunes towing a small caravan to show how well their 4WD system worked. Good post!

Looks like he has the factory bull bar, although it could be an aftermarket one.
