Style 214 staggered question

I was wondering if I can run 275/40/20 all around on staggered set of style 214s?

20*9.5 fronts
20*10.5 Rears

Would stretching 40 on 10.5 too much? What are the cons for stretching a tire like this?

also, would it be possible to run 20*9.5 with ET 45 on all corners? This way I would be able to rotate my tires. Would the rears be fine running 20*9.5 ET45 besides not being flush?

Thanks

The 40 refers to the height (thickness) of the sidewall. So going 5mm higher shouldn't be a problem. The problem is would be trying to run 275s on a 10.5" wheel. I don't think it's possible. The rears are normally 315 on a 10.5 wheel.

IF you have 9.5s all the way around, running 275s should be okay. Think about this...most of us that have the staggered setup run either 265 or 275 all the way around for Winter tires. You'll need to decide if you are going to run directional or non-directional tires. With directional, you'll only be able to rotate front to back on the same side.

Hope this helps with your decision making.

thanks for clarifying! The seller doesn't have 9.5 with ET30 unfortunately. I am wondering if I can run 20*9.5 ET45 in the rears?

Thanks

Style 87

I have the 20'' staggered rims style 87 (9.5 front and 10.5 rear) and I have just installed Yokohama Parada Spec-X 275/45/20 rear and 255/45/20 front. I came across this great deal and the guy who installed them said he installed this set-ul few times on E53.

Tires are not noisy, they run fine, but I noticed the gas consumption went up compared to my winter 18'' wheels.

I bought the car in September last year and I've never used the 275/40/20 & 315/35/20 set-up.

I guess after you stretch the 275/45/20 on the 20*10.5, the sidewalls will be like 40? I am still wondering if the 20*9.5 ET45 will fit in the rears because I don't want to run a staggered setup, and there isn't a 20*9.5 with ET30.

It should be ok to run 275 on the 10.5", I think some members do this with winter tires. I run 255s on 10" wide 132 style wheels. You have 12.5 mm wider wheel but the 275 is 20 mm wider then my 255. So, should be fine, just remember that you can't rotate the 10.5" wheels to the front axle.

yes, that is why I want 20*9.5 in the rears too but they only come in ET45 and I am not sure if 20*9.5 ET45 will clear everything and fit in the rears. If it doesn't then I won't have a choice but go with 20*10.5.

I guess I am just paranoid because I have never owned a set of wheels at 20" before and with these being replicas, I'm worried they will bend very easily and start vibrating like crazy.

You will be fine with 20x9.5 ET45. The difference from stock 10.5" wheels is only 2mm less clearance.

You can use this to double-check:

thanks!, but I just found out they don't have 20*9.5 ET45 to go around on all 4s, so I will still be stretching the 275/40/20 on the 20*10.5s.

I will post pictures when I have everything installed. Seeing pictures of some of the E53s with style 214, I can't wait till I get these wheesl!
