Rear Wiper AND Washer not working.

My rear wiper and washer are not working, I have checked the fuse and it looks fine. I have taken my multi-meter and poked it into the fuse slot and got somebody else to operate the switch at the stalk , no voltage.

I am thinking that it may be a fault at the stalk , however before I try and replace it which looks like a pretty painful job , is there anything else I should check ?

Check the relay in the trunk. I think there is one for the wiper and washer. Poke in there with your volt meter. Or replace with similar relay.

I looked at wiring diagram does not seem to be a separate relay for rear washer and pump unless i am mistaken (which is possible).

Looks like it might be the stalk i guess.

I traced the wiring back to the water container for the washers and guess what ! The plug was unplugged , so measured the voltage on the plug and it was 12 volts, plugged it in and water starts spraying from the back window ... result in an odd way. So the fact that circuit is always open to the pump even when the stalk is not being moved suggests to me that the stalk control is stuck in open and that probably the wiper motor is burnt out because this was not doing anything ... anybody else have other thoughts ?

Probably the rear washer pump there are three pumps on the water bottle. You need to check and see if it is working , get a multimeter remove plug and check if you have 12 v across the pins if yes and the pump is not running then it is not working. If you have no voltage and fuse 81 is okay then must be something else , I think the logic board on the washer motor has a part to play in activating the pump , this would be my next port of call hope that helps.

I had similar symptoms.

In my case, there was an IC on the circuit board attached to the wiper motor that was fried. This circuit board controls all of the rear wiper/washer functions.

The damage should be visible when you take the circuit board cover off.

If you are adventurous, you can try to replace the blown IC (mc33286 iirc). Otherwise, you'll need to replace the whole motor assembly.

I doubt the stalk is the problem.

Good luck.
