Self leveling Susp inact air noises

what's up people. I have the 2001 X5 4.4 and for about 2 years I had the self leveling susp inact message come up but it had no effect on the ride or the suspension. Then for about a month it would go down when I parked but would always go up right when I started the car. Now my car is very low on the right rear side. Every time I unlock the car it seems like it is trying to go up but it just can't. It makes a hissing, air leaking noise. At first I thought my tire was leaking air but it turns out to be the suspension. Now the car is always low. There are times it goes up for like a minute max while driving but then drops back down. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but it did not help. I went to a few mechanics in brooklyn and they dont even want to touch the car after hearing my story. I read somewhere that I should try replacing the air control unit. Not sure what to do at this point. IF anyone had this kind of problem or a similar problem to this one please give me some tips and tell me what you think is wrong. I wish it is not the air bags so broke Thanks!

Sounds like the rear air bag is leaking. Take the wheel off so you can see the air bag and spray it with soapy water. I bet you see it bubble up. The rear bags are really easy to replace... just a couple of clips.

self leveling suspension might be the fuse, check the fuse box for it
