Dinan letters

Dinan owners - has your lettering supplied by Dinan corroded??? - Just noticed after my last carwash my 3-4 month old lettering rotting away - Mind you, it was washing off 2500 miles of salt, dirt, and road scum, but only 10 days since it was last washed prior to my leaving Charleston,SC for home in Idaho. Went to my dealer to have him ask Dinan about it ( and to replace them ) - Will Know more later today - Bummer!!!

Finally heard from Dinan - seems to replace the Dinan lettering, you have to remove the old ones and ship them back before they send you new ones - seems a little paranoid to me - we are giving them free advertising - may only use the "X5" letters

Update - washed X5 Fri and noticed the Dinan lettering starting to corrode again , all except the 'I' (1 month since replacement and we don't use salt around here) - now the 'I' was the only letter I sent back without the adhesive and the corroding is virtually identical to what I had sent back to Dinan

Went to the dealer and had him call Dinan - I got on the phone and asked for a new set before I send these back. I also inferred that it looked like they polished up my old letters and sent them back to me, so I asked for the old ones back (to compare the corroding with the pictures I took - didn't tell them that).

At first I was told they did not want that many sets out (?????), then I was told they would send the old set back. Maybe by Fri I'll know more. My dealer stuck it to Dinan saying they want reimbursment for installation since this will be the 3rd time.

Dinan is giving you a hard time because the badges fetch a tidy profit when sold, so they are not ones to hand out $200 badges to every Tom Dick and Harry that do not have the "points". Also why they want the old set returned prior, as if they send out a new set, they are unlikely to ever have the old one arrive.

"technically", I did not "buy" the badges - I "paid" for the S2 upgrade for my used 2001 X5 - supposedly the badges and floor mats were "free" - and the last set they sent to me also has a small bit of corrosion - I may send these back this summer when I'm back in Idaho with the dealer who did the install - and believe me when I say that with that much corrosion, no one would want to display them - besides, as I've stated before, I've seen the same style lettering on the back of Dodge trucks - so how expensive can they be if Chrysler uses them?

I didn't imply that you bought the badge, I meant that the badge sets fetch quite a bit of coin online. I know they need to be "earned" through Dinan purchases.
