![]() As others have stated, the warranty will pay for itself. It's strange to want things to break but that way they'll get fixed. ![]() When it comes time to buy your trailer hitch, do some research here for the many lengthy threads on OEM BMW hitch versus others. I just traded in my X5 so I have some goodies for sale. I haven't gone through all of them but the two items right off the bat that I think might interest you are (1) a BRAND NEW OEM BMW roof base carrier rack cross bars. They are new-in-box and have never even been mounted! (2) Used OEM BMW cargo/pet divider. ![]() http://www.xoutpost.com/535249-post12.html I am in SoCal so we might be able to avoid shipping costs/hassles if you need either of these items. I am in Riverside County though but do make it to LA/Glendale area every so often. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks everyone! Glad to finally be an active member on these boards!
The warranty I got was the 4-star aftermarket warranty that BMW offers. It covers just about everything. I was originally looking into the 3-star then noted it didn't cover anything beyond the controls arms and BASIC suspension components. I made a big deal about it and they showed me the 4-star, which was a grand more, but worth it. So, 48 month/48k miles of full warranty coverage with a $100 deductible. This year has definitely been a crazy year. I had no original plan of getting a house until the fiance' (gf at the time) told me to sell my E46 330 private party instead of trade it in for an E90 M3... when I had the $ in my hands I realized I didn't want to spend it on a car... so I decided to sell the rest of my toys (90 325i & 06 Daytona 675) and stash some more money away for a house.. Well we are in the last week (cross fingers) of escrow and I trust we will get the keys this coming Monday. Then we can put the X5 to good use. The 1M is awesome, and we definitely want to do some track days with it ASAP. We actually met through a local car club and our topic of conversation was track days... so you can only imagine the amazing situation I'm in (no excuses for going to a track day!!). Definitely interested in some of the X5 accessories, but will be looking into those in a couple months when we are all moved in and things are sorted out (I have a wedding to pay for too *ugh*). Another of the 1M: ![]() |

I called by dealership and asked about warranty. Stated could not get anything if the car was already out of warranty. Was yours still under manufacture warranty Thanks |

However, I think it can only be added at time of purchase... but I may be wrong. Rusnak told me that even if I bought a car private party or from another dealership I could purchase an aftermarket warranty for it. They also told me that once the CPO was up one couldn't be added. This information was only speculated, not confirmed, so I don't know what the final ruling is on warranties. But, to reiterate, my car has 3 months of CPO left and I was able to add an aftermarket 4-star (eco is the brand I think) warranty that covers, what I think, is just about everything that you'd need to worry about on an X5. There may be a window of time from a purchase that you can go to a dealership and purchase an aftermarket warranty. I am not sure. Maybe BMW thought you were talking about a BMW-warranty, not aftermarket. |
