Rear SubFrame Bushes
I am now faced with the knocking sound from the subframe bush fail. I have read all post about how to do it with the "special tool" or "drilling/saw'ing them out". I'd rather go the "special tool" route, but everyone that rents such tool is in the UK and does not want to deal with shipping it. So I have two questions: 1. Does anyone know of this tool being rented in the US? 2. If you've gone the Indy route, what was the cost? Thank you in advance for replies.

2. Indy cost:
Got mine done recently. Two were replaced, two checked out OK (yeah, I know). 3 hours charged + $250 parts = $500. From memory, ymmv.

After researching this I've concluded that it makes more sense to purchase the tool and perform the R/R myself. I have found this tool on fleaBay: BMW X5 E53 Rear Subframe Bushing Tool Set | eBay
anyone ever seen this tool in action/used it? also, if any member/s in NYC need to perform this repair and would like to cut cost lets work on this. We can split tool cost and once done either rent it out and continue to split rev or sell it and split sold price.
