Yes, I agree...some kind of towhook. Here in the Colonies all we get is that lil'gizmo that screws into the front or back 'bumper area'. It works though, as I have had to use it in the drag it up on the flatbed process, way back in month 5 of owning the car, early 2002.

its not for a jack, the space is for a detachable tow bar hook.
take the middle covwer off on the rear bumper and see if you have an attachment for a tow bar, not a towing eye. if you have holder for tow bar go on flebay and buy a new hook. |

It is the detachable tow bar - what you would use to hitch up a trailer, not a towing eye. Itcame standard on my '05 3.0d.
