Weird AC Behavior AND hot air

Here is a fun one:

1) My AC likes to turn itself on at random times without warning. I have an 01 3.0 X5. By turning itself on, I mean the LCD display will show that it came on and it blows at full blast!

2) Trying to turn it off does nothing. Buttons are none responsive. They act on their own accord.

3) Sometimes even after the car is off, the AC stays on. Only until I remove fuse 48 will it go off.

4) Sometimes when it comes on, it turns metric. 16 degrees Celcius displays and the screen reacts to NO button pushes.

5) Finally, the air conditioner just started blowing nothing but hot air. I live in northern Cali where temps reach near 106 f on a bad day. I was told the condenser fan does not come on, so that might be something I need to change, but anyone else have issues or some info as to what the hell is wrong with my car?

I've read about the FSR, but I've never read these symptoms being from the FSR. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had similar issues. I just don't want to spend $ on a part that in the end didn't accomplish anything you know?

Thanks though. FSR it is!

Your symtoms are actually pretty much on the money for FSR. The hot air thing might be low refrigerant, but I would mess with that after replacing FSR. Pretty sure everything is FSR.

Looks like It's stealership time. Unless someone knows of a cheap place online to find this part?
