welded exhaust tips-

i was told by my bodyshop that if u weld the exhaust tips, then it may void the bmw warranty.
is this true?

Not true at my dealer ! That was one of the first quetions I asked.

It will void you BMW Exhaust guarantee should the welding of the tips on to the silencers damage these in anyway,such as rusting caused by welding in the wrong places!!!!!!!
Just ensure that any welding is done only on the sidewalls of the silencer.

I'm with POWERS1 again. The tips on my 4.8 mufflers were welded to the pipes at the end of the mufflers. What else would you would expect from the factory...clamps? If it's good enough for stock, it should be good enough for aftermarket, unless improperly installed, of course.
