Help Please

I just bought my x5 from a private owner on Craigslist. I have the title and bill of sale all signed but I cant do anything at the DMV because there is no lien holders signature from the bank when the vehicle was payed
Off. The guy I bought it from has unsubscribed from calls made to his cell phone on which I contacted him before so I cant reach him. What do I do now or how can i find the person to get the bank to sign that the vehicle does not have an exciting loan on it???
Thanks for all the help in advance

Wow dude, the guy is running away from you. You are almost screwed. I don't know the laws in MA, but unless you have it in writing that the lean will be payed off by the seller, it looks like you might be paying the lean off. I don't even know what to suggest. Maybe call a lawyer, and return that bucket you purchased.

This, along with that cluster tamper dot, all the damage to the car from your previous posts, makes me think that you got screwed, and will continue getting screwed.

Go to your local police precinct or DMV and start asking questions. Maybe someone will be able to point you in the right direction. You basically need to get hold of the bank that issued the Lean. Try to find where this guy lives maybe. I don't know. I just hope you bought the car cheap, like really damn cheap, as in no hopes of ever selling it cheap.

sounds like it's time to part it out - good luck, hope it all works out.

p.s. - did you not see on the title that there was a lien holder before you handed over the cash? Valuable (but expensive) way to learn that lesson, if not.

Have you contacted the bank? THAT would be the place to start..
THEY will be better equipped to chase down the moron for a no-longer-secured-loan than you will, they will advise what police action is necessary as well.. from There come the lawyers, but may be avoided.

So many Ps and Qs and dotted I's on legal documents, serves as a reminder for anyone buying used from private sellers, sorry you got boned..

The scumbucket that sold it to you may be selling off assets in preparation of filing for bankrupcy. You should't have handed over a cent until you saw a lienholder release sig or gone with the seller to lender and witnessed the loan payoff and sig on title.

It says sovereign bank. I went there and they won't talk to me only the original owner. And I checked on ncib the vin comes clean and I don't know how I got it insured with the title not having lein signature but it has a stamp with the bank and says 2007.

If the bank won't talk, I guess I would talk to a lawyer before you do anything else with it. It might cost money in the short term but it will probably save you money in the long.

Interesting that the bank doesn't want their money.....good chance they haven't gotten any money for a while.

It has been a long time since I dealt with title issues but if my memory serves right the stamp with 2007 is the bank's way of signing it off. I would go to the DMV and double check with them. The bank should have also sent a release of lien to DMV at that time as well.

good luck!
