So.. she's under the knife (sorta)

I dropped off my 4.8is today. A completely voluntary move. With 25K miles, I am not so concerned with the wear as I am the time for these items on my 10/04 build. After nearly 8 years, it's time to take a close look at these items and invest in a little preventative maintenance. I will leave for a week on Sunday, so I made the best of my time away:
  • Replace *all* fluids (except oil)
    • Transmission/filter
    • All diffs/Xfer case
    • Brake (oh, and please install SS lines)
    • Coolant
    • Is there more?
  • Body work/'Love tap' recovery
    • Remove rear bumper and send to paint shop
    • Secure new left rear exhaust tip- replace dented one
    • Hope and pray, pray, pray that the love tap I got on the street didn't do more damage
  • Inspect and replace as needed
    • Hoses
    • belts
    • Pulleys
    • Wear items
  • Check 'clunck' on front- replace parts as needed.
    • Check all suspension items- replace as needed
I should note here that I *expect* a pretty large bill. And I should qualify that this is a trusted Indy and friend that I have known for over 15 years. His advice and his shop built my SC'ed 540. He knows when he sees something not up to my standard that he is free to replace it. I don't argue. I trust him and I take care of him as I do a brother. I am confident he does the same for me.

Sounds like a real good freshening up for the X! Over the past year and a half I have ended up replacing most of what was on your list. It would have been far more convenient to do it all in one stop to the shop. The X will feel brand new!

how come you only do such low mileage, no disrespect intended , but wouldn't you get better value for your money if you did some more miles on it.

i have 141,000 km on my 2005 X5 and its performing faultlessly, i suspect that half the problems with these cars is due to lack of use.

my advice is to get out and use "the ultimate driving machine" hehehehe
