Coolant Expansion Tank
Well my X5 started going through the coolant lately and looks like the tank may be ready to go? Guys take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. Just wanted to say great site guys and let you know how much this novice appreciates the info. |

Yeupp, it's a gonner. Normally you replace it when the 100k coolant service gets done.

I just did mine last month, i bought oem since i was not sure of URO quality. I'm sure others have used the brand and for half the price of oem, thats a big savings.

my 2005 4.4 with 85k miles is on its third tank... I've had some bad luck with them...

Are you referring to this URO tank or just tanks in general? This will be the 3rd tank and the first two were oem and of course both failed. |

Ive only tried messing with the china-made Hella tanks and it gave in less than a year.
Im picky on how it looks in the engine bay so Im sticking with genuine BMW. Otherwise there are aftermarket aluminum tanks available |

Yes. The OEM coolant tank with the floating dipstick so to speak.. One under warranty at 40k miles, the second around 80K miles on me. Its the third tank in the car now...
