I hit...an owl

Hello everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I'll get straight to it though. I was cruising home at ~70mph and hit...an owl. It happened to only damage my left mirror cover (the actual mirror and all mechanics of the mirror are great! ). Now, my issue is that the cover got chipped/cracked and now I need to patch it up some how or get a new painted driver side mirror cover. My X5 is (430/6) or oxfordgruen II-metallic. Does anyone know where I can get a new mirror cover that is already painted?

Second option is possibly doing a slight repair job on the chipped area and covering the mirror cover with a black vinyl wrap?...maybe?

Soooo.... Who one that battle? lol

In any case, I don't think anything... meaning body related comes colored. I am pretty sure it is all primed, ready for paint. Other option is to call some salvage yards and see if they have anything in Oxford Green.

He may have won the battle...but I won the war. I swear I heard it squeak "whooo" just before it exploded and pooped on my driver door...

I think I'm going to try and 'repair' it with some bond-o, clay, something...and then wrap in in black 3M vinyl. Any ideas on what I could use to fill that small chip space?

Thanks for the responses

cement puddy from lowes or home depot...its the one that looks like a cylinder tube play-do type and you roll it and it mixes the putty all together and you have 10mins before it hardens then you can smooth it out ...goodluck

I would spring for a new cover. The time, effort, and end results of a Bondo job aren't worth it. I don't think black vinly wrapped mirrors would look good either. The E53 mirrors are like elephant ears and if yours are wrapped and don't match the rest of the beautiful Oxford Green, it will look odd.
