2003 X5 4.4i Transfer Case fluid

My X is close to 85,000 and I just got it about 3 weeks ago. Everything is fine and I would like to change out the Transfer Case fluid and the front and rear differ fluid. I called the dealer for the Transfer Case fluid and the guy said there are two types of Transfer Case one using Dexron 3 and other X-drive using the BMW special fluid. He told me to look at the Transfer Case for the indication but all I'm seeing is series of codes they are:
2710-7 515 748.0
SPT LWX 1220800 0067504
09-04-03

Can somebody help me on which fluid my Transfer Case is using. My last 7 digits of the VIN is LH47314 also how many qt does each diff required.

You should be a pre X drive X5. The transfer case uses a bit over a pint of fluid. HERE is a kit with the fluid, plugs, and gaskets you'll need to service the transfer case.

Your front differential takes 1.3 pints, the rear takes about 2.5 pints.

How do you know it is pre X drive? Is it based on what showing on the Transfer case? So if it is pre X do I need to take it to dealer to have the computer reset after the fluid changed?

Your 2003/05 build date notes pre x drive, and no self service is doable on the your E53.

You can do the oil change on X-drive too. Just adaptations need to be reset. Although, the difference is slightly to all in your head when the adaptations are reset.

I know another thread said Dexron 3 for non Xdrive but that's not available anymore. Is Dexron 6 a good replacement or Mobile ATF? RedLine is not available in Canada though.

Any other fluid beside the Redline? So what happened if the adaptation is not reset after the fluid changed? Is it going to cause problems to the Transfer Case in the future?

I personally doubt it. I think the car will adapt eventually. I drove around with it like that for about a week or so. No lights or anything came up.

I use the Redline Dex 3 in the TC and Mobil [1] 75-90 Syn in the diffs. Switched the OE fluid out at 100k miles, at over 150k miles now with no issues.

Hey TiAgX5 did you have the Adaptation reset after the Transfer Case fluid replaced?
