Fuel pump/filter caution to owners

Hey guys, i got a 04 4.8is

i bought it at 92,000km

the fuel pump always made a little bit of whining noise, never thought much of it

got a fuel filter cuz my gut told me to

filter sat around for 2 weeks and my pump started making more noise and no power after 5k rpm, slight hesatation at 1600rpm

pump blew over a course of 4 days ounce i hit 98,000km

new hella pump 308$ plus 12% tax

new pump was whining, this had me concerned, drove to work

2hours later i changed the filter

and vuala no more pump noise

my filter was clogged and cost me 500+ for a new pump and a tow truck

dont let this b U!!!

Are you fueling up at whatever station has the lowest price?

In the past 20+ years driving BMWs, Vipers, and Vettes I have replaced them at 100k MILES and never had one so clogged up as to render the vehicle disabled. Stick with top tier fuel providers, Shell for 1.

I've put BP/Amoco or Chevron in when I can't locate a Shell on long trips, I run the OBC distance to E down to the single digits . Over 90% of the time Shell goes in.

Ditto... Had my fuel pump go out in May and it was $870 at a reputable Indy in Plano.
Yeah, fuel filter was changed about a couple days before it died so, the pump was basically gone when I changed it.

Wow. I just had my fuel filter changed in my big preventative maintenance push this month. Pretty sure it didn't need it at 25K miles, but it's nice to know that after 7 years with the PO, now the only gas through it is *my* choice! Cheap insurance!
