want to take a crack at this for me (SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT

So last monday the SES light comes on. I had not drove my X that prior weekend it was sitting in an airport parking lot. Last thursday my x was sittign all day againa nd the light was off then i start it back up on friday and the light is back. So that saturday I took it to the stealership. They said it was the secondary air system. They also said no charge because they just cleared the light. They were like they need it to fault again. So it was fine saturday and sunday today I let my car sit at home. I get home today from work and start it up servicee ngine soon ligth back on.

Ok? And what would you like us to do? We don't have a code, model, or year. Could it be the secondary, it could, but could also be another underlying problem. Give us some more info so we can help.

And please place the type of x you have in your sig page.

Thanks.

Nevermind damn tapatalk leaves that stuff out. Ok so you have a 06 3.0 with an ses on. When you went to the dealer did they happen to give you a code or just said secondary? If the light is still on, take a trip to autozone to get the code read. Write it down and bring it back. It seams like whenever a code is coming out as the secondary, it's always 2 or 3 other things that are at fault.

If you're asking is it terminal, no it's not..
If you're asking is it 'spensive, yes it is.
The hoses that serve it turn to junk, causing the secondary air pump to fail.
I have been driving around with it broken for my trip east. Sooner or later it will cause damage to the emissions system, but stealer said no worries for a couple K, so doing it in Fall, me.

Thank you Ph3rd and TwinTurboGTR,
The funny thing is I asked the dealer was it any of the hoses he said they all looked fine. Because I read a few threads on here about the SES light related to some hoses failing. I will get the code read by autozone tommorrow. Oh and I'm just about to hit 74,000 miles if thats helps or not.
I was going to use my bmw usb scanner to clear it but now I'm worried so I'll provide an update with the code and yes the dealer said secondary and provided me no code.
But he didnt charge me either. Diagnostics start at 62 bucks. Jeez i must have been sleep when writing the first post..
