Dead Battery now many problems please help
Hello everyone, last night I left the radio on for too long apparently(I'm installing a aftermarket system 2 amps/sub etc.) anyways I went to start the X and battery was dead, so I have a battery booster, I hook it up and it start it up right away, but with many issues.
-the fuel gauge is all the way down and the reserve light in on (but the tank is actually full) I fill it up yesterday morning. -the A/C does not work and I think at one point the cluster outside temperature was reading -113 degrees (that's a good reason for the compressor not to kick in) - the traction control light was on 4x4off I think it says but that went away this morning. does anybody ever had this happen to your X? is there a procedure to restore everything back (maybe disconnect the battery for a hour? or would that make it worse? thanks in advance. Delvi. btw is a 2005 4.4i non sport. |

Yep! Had mine crap out a couple weeks ago and got the same messages.
I put a new battery in and drove for a bit and what didn't clear when the new battery went in, did after driving for a while. Your old battery is probably too weak to support all the electronics. Get a new one and most if not all will reset.

You don't necessarily need a new battery....it just needs to be charged a bit. If you don't have a trickle charger....do some city driving for 20 min. Go back home, restart the car. Everything should could back.

..all except for the city driving. You need to do a long run, over half hour of motorway driving with everything switched off, even your heater.

When you change out a battery (especially as cars get more and more reliant on computers) do yourself a favour and get yourself two sets of jumper leads. Connect the new battery to the terminal connectors with one set before removing the terminal connectors from the old battery. then put the new battery in place. Connect the old battery to the other jumper leads prior to removing them from the new battery. Then connect the terminal connectors to the terminals on the new battery before removing all the jumper leads. This keeps power to the circuitry at all times and prevents any "issues"
