Help - Brief white smoke from one exaust x5 04 with 80k

Hi Folks,

Owner of 04 x5 4.4i with 80k, I've had white smoke appear from no where about 4 months ago, now its happening more often, its not all the time...I've noticed oil level drop and received warnings that oil level is low(I've seen this warning before in the past I would just add 1 quart of oil would be set for a while). I've been making sure oil level is back to where it needs to be. I've bought 2 replacement CC valve's from BMW parts today, planning on doing replacement today after reading the forum and comments...is there anything else you can recommend I can do or check, planning a trip to NH with our boat? I'd appreciate any suggestion, I'm bit afraid I can cause more issues to the SUV if I continue driving and possible towing this weekend..I've not noticed any change in the performance, possible some light whistling noise coming when accelerating but it could just be me, hearing stuff ...

Cheers,

Valve guide seals. Has the engine ever been overheated? If you are not the 1st owner, this is possible without you knowing about it.

Thanks for the feedback TiAgX5...

I've had the cold start repair done, misfire in 2 or 3 different cylinders, dealer had to make some changes included intermediate shafts and levelers not once but twice to get it right height for the levelers I believe, we are talking mm , and I believe the seals too in the process had to be replaced. Wonder if there is connection or totally something else that is next in line that needs attention on this vehicle, because of the age and or usage...I just hope its not big repair like the cold start issue...

Cheers,

Since replacing the cc valve yesterday, I believe it seem to do the trick...keeping my fingers cross that's all it was.

That sounds like an issue my wife's 04 is having. What was the part number for that valve?

Sorry Tony I've already throw away the billing part info...and trash got picked up today. I just went to bmw parts/dealership explain to them what I was looking for and they matched the part to my vehicle vin number. Cost was around 80 dollars.

Cheers,
Soner

This sounds exactly like what my 04 4.8 is doing. What's a "cc" valve?
