What have I done? please insert suitable cd rom.
Had a few error messages up and engine light on. Bought myself a 1.4 scanner from ebay. Installed if fine, run the scan and reset all of the errors. Now in the main screen I get a message. Software required, please insert a suitable cd rom. What have I done? Any help please. Last edited by zetecor; 08-14-2012 at 02:56 PM. |

you need to get a CD with the Nav OS (latest one is V32) and stick that CD into the Nav computer in the trunk and make sure you do not interrupt the power while it is loading. There are few places where you can download the V32, then you will have to slow burn it to a CD-R and hope that the Nav computer will take and not spit out... do a seach for Navigation Operating Software version 32 (or any other combination of those words), and see if you can find a place to download... megauploads is not working, the feds got the guy who ran that site... lol...

original disk from a dealer is about $10 US, so if the guy is selling an original disk for that price than it is ok, if he is selling a copy - than it might be too much for a copy...

Go to dealer, get the firmware DVD. Pay them the couple of euro. It should be cheap. Insert into DVD rom.
Also please update your signature to show your car specs. Like my signature for example, or terminators. It helps other id your car on the fly when trying to help. And its important for you to have the sig. Because depending on year, you might have MK3 nav. And you need to be careful on how you eject the DVD.

This is the current list of the dealers in the US who still has the Nav OS disk available... according to the dealer, the BMW AG stopped making those disks for retail distribution, and i heard on the grapewine that the upgrades are loaded into the mainframe machine at the dealerships to update the computers in the car... whatever that means... lol...
