I've searched around and couldn't find much about this... My front diff died on me and I will be replacing it with a used one with about 40K miles on it. It's going into my 2003 3.0i with 100,600 miles on it. Has anyone done this project on their own? I was wondering if there are any tricks or special procedures I'll need to know about. Thanks in advance for any info!

Well, never mind I guess... I got the old one out and the new one installed in under 4 hours. It actually wasn't too bad.

Well... I don't know what the book says about removing the diff but it would seem (at first glance) that you will need to remove the left motor mount. Well, not so. Just tug and rotate and it'll come out. As for putting it in, a tranny jack helps a lot
![]() I got my diff from German Ebay (since I'm living in Germany) it came from a wrecked Euro spec 4.4i and it bolted right up to my US spec 3.0i.
