want put on 17" alloys all way round, any issues with this?

ok so came across some used original 17" alloys with good tread , the same as my spare at the back, just wondering if being a sport version e53 and the tires being 235/65R17 104H may not be recommended as the original 19" had higher speed and load ratings , these alloys and decent tires on em cost €300 for the set approx $375....

I'm guessing you have a 4.4?

They will fit no problem. Why the change?

Nope got a 3.0D sport, that had 19" went down to 18" and now want the 17" hoping the guy will take in the 18" for a price, if you see the pot holes and ruts in the roads in this country you will think you are in war zone, I have seen how 'fat' the tirewall is on the stock 17" alloys (spare is a 17") and they are going to make for a less tooth knocking ride than the previous tires I had on......mainly this reason

They should fit just fine. It's a downgrade but your reason is legitimate.

Don't see more knowledgeable members jumping in here, so take with a grain of salt -- my memory is that the sport version has bigger brakes which required the 18" (or larger) wheels.

maybe change topic title to " 17" wheels on -sport- e53 ", or somesuch..
(just re-read, and see that 17" is the spare, so easy to check, I stayed with 17s for your same reasons, OZ's all-round, me)
gl..

mine is E53 3.0 sports with 19" tire/rim... I'm thinking of downsizing the tire/rim combo to 18" for the same reason mentioned above.... the regular road that I drove on is like driving on off-country road... and off-country roads are like "war zone"....
My kids tends to get car sick on regular roads on x5, but not on other suv/sedan we have.

ps.Omodos, do you experience noticeable improvement to ride quality (stiffness/comfort) when changed from 19" to 18"? Thanks in advance..

yup Blanky, may not sound like a big change 19 to 18, but I have softer ride less teeth knocking when you hit a pot hole,so am tempted to go for the 17" for an even softer ride...problem is i have a set on 19" and set of 18" that will be sitting around, but for $400 dollarish and tires with read as well i dont wanna reject the 17" aloys

the 17inch with 235/65 tires are even smoother, as for economy as mentioned i drove 424miles in them and still get 30mpg in her..can't complain,

Can you post a pic of the car's side view with the 17" rim/tire?
If the look is good, I'll go from 19" sports pack to 17" directly...
Thanks.
