Pre facelift headlights MFD in 2005

I have set of brand new oe headlights non xenon but they are manufactured in 2005. I was planning to get the lenses from them but the glue is the problem. Is there a way to remove the lenses in a good shape ? I don't mind damaging the casting, I don't need it.

Yea Tom did this once. Actually made a post about it somewhere here. Something at like 20 min, at 220F in the oven, and then pry that shit apart. Others have tried it without success though. I say try it.

If they are brand new, I wouldn't do that to them. Sell them and buy a used pair cheap.

Which lens are you trying to "recycle"? Maybe the clear lens? I bet Tom already has those lenses removed and could probably sell them to you.

The seal is very hard. If you want to open them, with the least damage let Tom do it for you. If you want to DIY, then DEFINITELY speak with Tom. The 2002 and below are easier.

The baking solution doesn't work for the headlights mfd after 2003 or something like that. I was wondering if there still a way to get the lenses out not damaged and can clean the glue out of them.

Yea that is what people say, not what Tom did. He has pictures and maybe a vid of him actually opening up face lifted lights. He is a pro at this stuff.

Others can't repeat his work, but you should contact him if you are scared of the baking.

Dennis, he has a pre-facelift (03 and below) headlight that was mfgrd in 2005. He's just pointing out that its got the harder seal to deal with compared to other pre-facelift early year HLs.

There must be a reason we don't know about why he needs to open these particular headlights - instead of maybe another set.

Oh I keep misreading. You are correct. I agree then. Call up Tom and get a set of lenses from him. A brand new one is worth a lot of money. And it's brand new, someone will appreciate it. Good catch Jose. Thanks.

I talked to Tom a couple of days back. He doesn't have a pair for sale.
Brand new BMW pair. What beautiful lenses they have.
I will probably sell them and get DEPOs. I am waiting for an answer from Tom. I am not sure how bad the DEPs xenon are comparing with OE.

Don't let the mfgrd date fool you. I see the black clue/silicone on those headlights, that mean you can bake them open ,if the clue /silicone is clear or yellow that mean you can not...
