Radio lights are Dim

Well I did a search but didn't find anything for my particular problem. My sound system is a non-Nav with DSP, my radio lights are very dim in the daytime, it doesn't matter what angle the sun is shining in the car, they are pretty much unreadable. At night when the headlights are on they will dim with the dimmer switch, so it's almost as if they're stuck in nighttime mode. Someone correct if I'm wrong but since the lights are red and red lighting can be tough to see in sunlight, I assume BMW made it where the lights are in a brighter mode during the day using a light sensor somewhere in the car?

The light sensor is right next to the "Audio" button, if you don't have NAV. Try shining a flashlight on it to see if it will brighten up.

Oh yeah, thanks dkl, I forgot to mention mine is non-Nav, I'll edit my post.

Well I checked the sensor, nothing really I can do to it, it's just a clear dot on the radio face, I wiped it off but radio is still dim in the sunlight.
