doors locked, wont unlock

03 x5 3.0
master key stopped working so a replacement basic key was ordered a year ago.

all locking and unlocking has been done via the key lock on the drivers door since

now it will not unlock with the key.

ideas on how to get into the truck? there isn't a key tumbler under the pass door handle "cap" is there?

Thanks guys!
Jeff

when you phisycally turn the key in the door's keyhole to open the locks, does the key turn 90 degrees or 45-50 degrees?

There should be key access on the drivers door handle. 90* is full open position but the doors still won't unlock?

Your key cylinder has broken, this is a somewhat common failure if you use the key lock a lot. It happened to me back in December, do a search and you will find my post about this. I got stuck at Ikea, had to call a locksmith, got a new key that week, stll haven't fixed the cylinder yet though.

it acts like the switch on the back of the cylinder that tells it to unlock is bad.

the keyless stopped working on it last year, so the key cylinder is the only way in.

is there anything under the blank cap on the pass side?

No there is nothing under the cap from the pass side. There is a key slot on the underside of the upper tailgate.

I don't think there's a key slot, you might be mistaken.
