Would NO full beam fail a UK MOT?

As the subject, if full beam didnt work at all, would the car fail the UK MOT? I know it`s a strange question but I didn`t know where else to ask this. (other than an MOT testing station I suppose).

My Audi is in for MOT right now, Ill ask him when I pick it up in a hour. My first guess would be yes indeed, though. But its strange, I brought a 520 in for MOT last month and the seat belt was broken and the guy said it was an optional check.

But lighting, brakes, etc were not optional. Im sure you know, but it all depends on where you take it too...A case of Bud Ice around these parts will pass a car with no engine in it...

High beam is what you get when you PULL on the left hand stick, sometimes use it to flash people or to see further on a dark road. Low beam is normal headlights on at night.

If it`s not too late, could you ask if spotlights wired up as full beam would pass? in other words instead of full beam, the lower spot lights come on instead.

I just called two MOT garages here in Norfolk, and they both say you need to have full beams for MOT. Now, you and I both know the MOT is the MOT, and what happens before and after that is up to you. I used to laugh at all the boy racers who would stand outside the MOT bay and put their neon winshield washer "thingies" back on and their purple headlights as soon as the car came out....

Yeah I can just imagine it now. Thanks for your time. I remember one of my other vehicles getting a pass even though a couple of bulbs needed changing. The garage I use has a good relationship with the MOT place and they assume they`ll do the fix when they get back to the garage and so pass it. I`m sure they would turn a blind eye for me (I hope).

Whats the deal with your lights? Do you WANT them that way? The MOT only has to pass for what WORKS, not for what WILL work..So if its something you can do just for the MOT, then you should be OK...Most places are no different than the police in New Orleans or NYC in the states...A couple "goodies" in the trunk, and you're taken care of...The amount of work a case of Stella or "Newkie" Brown can get you is amazing!
