I think I am going to paint my LeMans Blau trim pieces.

So I really dislike the look of the LeMans Blue interior trim pieces. It seems out of place and just doesn't look like it belongs. Many have said to do the Di-Noc Carbon Fiber, but to be honest, not a huge fan of the Carbon Fiber.

I "think" what I would really like to do is paint the interior trim pieces. I want to paint them black, but not just any black. I want to paint it in GM's Black Diamond TriCoat. I personally think it would look sick and with the amount of flake, it wouldn't wash out with the rest of the dash.

What does everyone else think?

Below is the color on the CTS-V

I kinda like the carbon fiber a bit more than the flakes IMHO. But hey your the one who's gonna look at it everyday so if you like GM's Black Diamond Tricoat, go for it!

Why not stick with the BMW Sapphire Black? Or just the regular piano black.

If you really want to stand out you can try a bold color like blood red.

Black Sapphire is awesome, but I don't think it is enough flake. Especially with the interior already black, I don't want it to wash out. So I figured adding a lot of flake would separate the pieces nice. And the only color I could think of was... Black Diamond Tricoat.

Nothing for nothing, if I could afford to paint the X in this color I would. lol

Personally, I'm in the "stay with OEM stuff - including paint codes" camp. However, you do raise a good point about the interior washing out. I think that the flake in the GM paint would definitely accentuate the trim more than the piano or even sapphire blacks and it may really break up the dash/door panels and centre console nicely.

There's no way to know unless you try it; if you don't like it, you could always sand it off and repaint it.

I'd say it's at least worth a shot.

How about I trade you my set of Light Polar (or Dark Polar set) and you paint any color you like? My daughter's is Topaz Blue so yours should look ok on hers.

Hell yeah! I'm into it. I can't stand faux carbon fiber. The trim needs to be glossy or shiny to stand out in a black interior.

Here's piano black just for reference:

I agree. Has to be glossy, and piano black, with like 15 coats of clear for that always wet look.

Yeah? Piano Black?

Screw it!!! Imma go Millennium Yellow lol

Oi, so I was reading an article on most ridiculous factory paint job prices. SO BMW came 4th on the list with they Frozen Black and Frozen Gray color. in 2011, the dealer made you sign a waiver to waive your right for warranty claims on the paint and you had to follow BMW's strict cleaning procedure? No waxing, no washing with regular detergent, can leave and bugs or bird droppings sit, sitting water isn't allowed to dry??? Sooo, when the hell can you drive it? lol They got rid of the waiver thing now but I am assuming they are still making you buy the BMW care system.
