what idiot thought plastic pulleys were a good idea?!?!?!?!

just finished replacing the cooling system..... due to unplanned explosion of the damn plastic water pump pulley......(had just changed the belts and inspected the cooling system yesterday no less) thank goodness that certain suppliers (local) are open on Saturdays.... nothing like being stuck on the side of the freeway for a couple hours waiting on a darn tow truck

anyone know of solid metal pulleys that fit these engines that are a direct replacement (M50 vintage or so?) any good aftermarket that arent underdrive pulleys?

good find. I was thinking more along the lines of earlier model BMW units, but the ECS one seems pretty nice for the price. The open face design at first looked a bit fast and furious (along with the laser etched letters) but on further thinking it would allow a better purchase with different tools than the normally used tool that hooks over the bolt heads. with the open face, a long handled screwdriver could be used for more leverage/clearance. Still would like to see a power steering pulley that isnt either plastic or made by URO parts (generally poor quality in past experiences)
