Powerflex Bushings
I have been experiencing the steering wheel vibration/shuddering many on here have spoke about. I have had my pads resurfaced but it comes back quickly. Noticed some cracks in my lower control arm busshings. I will be changing these out at next brake change. Read good things about PowerFlex. Question is, I noticed on Pelican Parts they sell sets of lower control arm bushings for steel track rods and a set for alloy track rods. Is that vehicle specific or just user preference? I had powerflex bushings in my lower control arms on my E38 - they make the ride a bit more harsh. Sure they might last "forever" but the OEM bushings are designed to absorb shock from the road for a reason. Just a heads up so you're aware that things will be much different.
You can go with 750ilP bushings I think if you want a firmer feel in the control arms. They are designed with heavier rubber to withstand the added weight of the V12 and armor plate the prootection series have. Cheers!

I just put PF thrust arm and sway bar bushes on my 4.8is. With the 20" wheels the ride does feel a bit more stiff but, the handling after a balance and alignment is awesome!
I also got a set of Pelican's lower CAB's (PFF-802) but, they are originally for an E34 (5-series) which has the same design as the E53. However, they are about 1/8" wider than the steel encased rubber bushing. I think with either a small modification or a spacer/ washer to fill the gap it should work. The steel sleeve that goes inside is a perfect fit as far as width, inside the subframe mount. The lower arm is a bit too narrow in comparison for fit to the bushings in the subframe and that's where the problem is. The PF bushings take a little getting used to and I think over time with a little wear, they'll settle in and give a nice firm ride!

Thanks for the info. I'm ok with a firmer ride. I really just need to know whether to order the "alloy track bar" or "steel track bar" version. I can't find info on why they offer 2 different kinds and pelican has not responded to my question.
