Upper Windscreen Rubber & Xfer Case Fluid
B) The thin strip of rubber on the roof/windscreen line is shot. I actually took the water hose and blew most of it off. Underneath is just metal. Im getting zero wind noise, but Im sure it will rust if I dont paint it etc. Is this replaceable or only coming with a new windscreen? Oddly, the glass is original and perfect with 179,800 miles. Thanks for the info & help!

I can't really answer your questions exactly, but I CAN tell you I had the same problem with the strip above the windshield. Just so happens I had a cracked windshield as well, so I had the glass guy change the strip. What I can tell you is that this strip is completely redesigned from what was on the car.

You can order the rubber strip for about $20. Here's the link for ECS Tuning:

Yeah, but I think he wants to know if he can replace that strip without taking the glass out. I'd like to know as well. As far as I can tell, it is just held in with clips.

I've read that if its a BMW windshield that you can just swap it out. There's videos on YouTube of people changing them on different models, it's common for Bmws. I ordered one last week, and will be doing mine as well.

I put RedLine ATF in the TC at 100k miles. At 155k now with no issues, even towing 6k lb trailer in 110deg F TX heat.

The xDrive transfer case uses the BMW Part # 83220397244 fluid which is most likely what our 2005s use.
