No I never did that, just don't turn the car on with the airbags disconrcted to avoid the light. Don't be scared to take the airbag off its freaky but it will not deploy. But if you want to you can disconnect the battery I just never did

Well, everything pulled out except center console and the dash. They move together but do not come loose (Are they supposed to come out together?)

So more help needed please..

Thanks,

Ozzie..

No the center console needs to come out first. Make sure no screws are holding the center console in anymore

There were two screws in it and two on each side. Are there any more?

Yes there should be 2 more in the center console storage under the armrest. Open it up and pull out the plastic insides and there will be 2 screws under that. If that's unclear give me your Number real quick and I can send you a video of me yanking it out. Just pull on it it won't break

There's a DIY for console removal: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...le-bmw-x5.html

For some reference pics look here: http://www.xoutpost.com/894478-post36.html

OP gave no level of exp on DIYing so it would be wise to point out the fact that DIYs without torque specs for fasteners are a disaster waiting to happen. The Bentley manual has the blower DIY with all tq specs and is around $80, that's alot cheaper then having to replace broken/damaged part or "living with" the rattles that come from undertightening.

Does anyone have a picture of the actual blower once the cover is off? But still in the housing, not loose... I'm wondering if you could get at it by cutting in from the side? I had to do this on my jeep years ago.

Blower dead. Replaced FSU and still dead. Finally reached the blower wheel/blades with a stick and freed the seized wheel/blades and blower came back the life. The wheel is located inside the housing of the FSU.

Tonight my blower fan started making a noise like an almost dead alternator pulley ...that metallic sound..don't know how to explain it really but I'm sure it comes from the passenger side .Is there where the blower motor is?
Maybe something is stuck in there gotta find out tomorrow hopefully won't have to take the dash out!
