Help with fender flares, running board, and front & rear spoilers

Hello,

I am confused (sorry I am a newbie) but I am looking to purchase the following fender flares for my car:

51 71 7 049 867 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT LEFT ------- 1
51 71 7 049 868 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT RIGHT ------ 1
51 71 7 049 869 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, REAR LEFT -------- 1
51 71 7 049 870 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, REAR RIGHT ------- 1
51 12 7 046 919 -- REAR SUPPORT BUMPER TRIM, LEFT ------ 1
51 12 7 046 920 -- REAR SUPPORT BUMPER TRIM, RIGHT ----- 1

and was wondering:

1. If they are compatible with the brushed OEM running boards
2. Will they work with the 4.6is front and rear spoilers?

I tried the search function and couldn't find the answers.. not sure if there is any difference between the 4.6is and 4.8is fender flares and if they sold these flares w/o compatibility with the brushed OEM running boards.

Thanks,
R

Hi,

first of all - if you want to save some money please go with that kit: Home Page > Search > 51710398336 > ES#127309 Fender Flare Retrofit Kit - 51710398336
It is genuine BMW and compatible with running boards. Front spoilers are never a problem because the arches do not touch the front bumper. Rear is also not a problem.

Another thread about this with pictures is here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-arches-3.html

If you want to see how that arches looks at the end: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ore-after.html

Have fun

EDIT: if you have a car where the kit matches. Maybe you put some info into your profile.

You can find your answers here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...explained.html

See below in red too. What year and model do you have? Do you have RBs now?

Thanks,

OP make note that the flares kit in the link are not the same as the 4.6/4.8 flares that you posted you were looking for. They are the ones used on the Special Edition 3.0ds - which many people are not aware of.

They are covered in the link I gave you in my previous post.

Then if you want the correct front & rear flares (like the 4.6/4.8), and will work with the OEM RBs, then you need:

3.0/4.4 – Aluminum Running Boards WITH Front Flares and 4.8 Style Rear Flares.

NOTE: If you already have RBs, then you ONLY need the parts listed below and 26 Blind rivets (51717002953).

Part Number ------ Description ------------------------- QTY
51 11 7 073 517 -- MOUNTING PARTS SET (REAR SUPPORTS) -- 1
51 12 7 046 919 -- REAR SUPPORT BUMPER TRIM, LEFT------- 1
51 12 7 046 920 -- REAR SUPPORT BUMPER TRIM, RIGHT------ 1
51 71 7 051 035 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, REAR LEFT -------- 1
51 71 7 051 036 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, REAR RIGHT ------- 1
51 71 7 051 037 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT LEFT ------- 1
51 71 7 051 038 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT RIGHT ------ 1

One more question. Do you have used RBs or they are new? For example, do you have the RB Retrofit Kit (51710017315)?

I ask because if you have the RB kit - then the 26 blind rivets come with the kit.

If you have a used set, you'll have to pick those up and maybe more - depending on what parts you may be missing.

Then you should have a pop rivet tool. Other than that Good Luck! There should be links to DIY in my link too or you can search.
