REAR Wiper

My Rear Wiper has a mind of its own, I thought it was the stalk switch so after struggleing to replace that only to find out that it still had its own mind, and my only way to take total control was to remove the fuse and leave it out all together, it does not even need to be switched on to run and it runs all the time, does anybody know why this will not obey and run only when asked to ????

Hi mate

Sounds like the wiper motor is faulty, seen the same fault on a few different vehicles, the motor is stuck on so as soon as it gets power it will start

Rear Wiper

Is there a relay thats somewhere in the rear that could be the trouble, when the fuse is in it runs one wipe at a time and then pauses, as it does when it is in the on position, thats why I changed the stalk switch, because it acted as though the switch was grounded out and was not allowing me to control my rear wiper, I wonder if the rear wiper has a relay that I can get to?????

Rear wiper

I think it might be the relay, as I have changed my stalk switch already, and that is a chore in itself, but if you look at that you can cheat a little and grind a few tabs off that stalk housing so you dont have to disassemble the entire steering colum, but my wiper in my REAR had an issus when I 1st bought it back in 2007, then it stopped it was fine till last winter so rather than ruining the glass I removed the wiper and then I could keep hearing that wiper motor still pulsing, so I took the fuse out, so I need to know where the relay if the rear wiper has one and try changing that to see if that fixes, I still need to see where that breakdown is for my gaskets for my motor, I still have a leak that needs to be repaired so if someone can send the link for those printouts with part numbers for my 2001 x5 bmw my motor is the 4.4 l , so that info will be helpful if It is not asking for to much, I had a site but i had 2 computers crash and the website I had is now gone !!
